THE KEY;;
Parasites: Rely on wolves to thrive. Often leave critical internal damage that results in death.
Prey Animals: Animals that are healthy availabilities for wolves to hunt and feed on.
Predators: Animals that feed on wolves or hunt them. These can be single "monsters" or an entire species.
Neutral Animals: Animals that hold no value to the wolves and vice versa. They are simply there for the purpose of being there. They can be prey animals unless specified. These animals, otherwise, do not bother the wolves in any way.
Land: Animals that thrive on land.
Aviary: Animals the thrive in the sky or trees.
Aquatic: Animals the thrive in the water.
NOTE: Parasites are only active and available during the spring and summer. You decide whether your character gets one.
To catch and aviary animal, it is best to hunt at night using the element of surprise, else-wise, one must be very swift and maneuverable.
PREDATOR animals are assumed to be sole monsters of their own, and do not live as a species because it is to be assumed in roleplay that there is only ONE of them. Each Predator animal has its own name and gender, and it cannot be killed in roleplay.
In the shop, members are able to purchase "minions" for their character to interact with. Any creature from the bestiary is available for purchase other than the predators.
Parasites:
. Exrilo worm-
These nasty little buggers resemble rotten maggots, about five inches long and a thick grayish slime coats them. they have razor sharp jaws like that of a beetle. They live underneath the dirt in hibernation, until a warm body passes by. If a wolf lingers near their burrows too long, they will crawl up their legs and are impossible to shake off due to the slime. They feed upon the Wolf's stomach contents, and eventually the wolf itself.
. Xanthos Wasp Larvae-
This is a truly horrid child of nature, found only in the jungles of Estrella. It resembles a large slim Wasp, Greenish Black in Hue. It is three feet in length and very powerful. It only breeds once every five years, for a three day period. But when that time comes around watch out!! Their young feed exclusively upon Wolf Kind, and they will Chase down any lone ones caught off guard. They attach themselves to the spine and lay their eggs, a venomous sting causes temporary paralysis. The babies feed on the wolf from the inside out while its still alive, and in the end nothing is left but a hallow carcass.
. Axthan Lizard-
Perhaps the most unique of all, is this little guy. It is only three inches full grown, and a sleek purplish brown. It lays its eggs in Carrion, any species will do but it thrives in Wolves. After the eggs are ingested, the warmth of the stomach jump starts them to Hatch. They wriggle their way into the blood stream, and "Swim" Up to the brain. They gorge on the rich matter, and the poor wolf suffers from extreme migraines. Eventually the Cranium is picked clean, and they slither out the now open eye sockets and off to life anew.
. Common Black Flea-
Not very problematic. These jumpy, amusing critters are barely noticeable once picked up from certain prey animals. They feed on the wolf's blood but they do not cause any serious problems.
. Red Burrowing Flea-
Known for their neon red color, these little fleas hide in leaf litter and cling to a wolf's pelt when they walk by. They burrow under the top layer of the wolf's flesh and can be seen moving beneath the skin because of their bright color. Very irritating, wolves tend to bore holes in their own flesh trying to dig these critters out.
. Kaeti Fly Larvae-
The female Kaeti Fly will actively hunt for sleeping wolves at night. She flies into the nasal cavity and embeds her eggs in the mucus, and after this, she flies out of the nose and goes off to die somewhere. The eggs hatch days later and the larvae immediately travel to the throat where they will be swallowed. From here, they burrow tiny holes into the stomach, and in several months, the damage will be enough so that the stomach bile will cause internal bleeding and then death.
. Brillox Fish -
This small Cat Fish is very common, much to Our Kinds Distress. They are about 6 inches in length, and a muddy brown color. They favor fast moving streams and rivers, laying in wait for its next meal. It invades the body by wriggling up the rectum, and makes its new home in the Wolf's Liver. It gorges itself until full, then dies inside and rots in its new found home.
. Blood Fluke-
A wriggling red worm that flits about in the water. They grow to be about two centimeters long, and if slurped up by an unsuspecting wolf, they travel down into the digestive tract where they burrow into the nearest veins and multiply asexually. They deprive the wolf of nutrients and ensure a slow death.
Prey Animals:
. Myroska Deer-
A little bigger than the real world's white tailed deer, these creatures thrive in very large herds that are strangely led by several males. They have fluffy, bushy little tails who's white color contrasts greatly to the very light cream shade that coats their entirety. White spots of various sizes are littered over their flanks. A male Myroska Deer's antlers are unusually short, only about a foot tall in height for a full grown male, but they are very sharp. The antler's, to show the deer's maturity, often gain blue streaks and hues as the deer ages. Young deer look no different in markings to the adults.
. Koylin Deer-
These species of deer are very small, ranging to about the size of an average german shepherd dog, and are also quite nimble. They have a smokey colored, soft pelt that is variously marked with specks of red. For competitive purposes, Koylin deer have two inch long, thick, fangs that protrude from not their gums, but directly from their skulls. These fangs are used during battles between each other and defense, however, when eating, they serve no purpose.
. Carotine Parrot-
A small bird, maybe just a few inches bigger than an every day robin, this species lives up to it's name by the brightly orange colored hues to its feathers. Eyes of bright red, they are very weary of predators and are always on the lookout; they are capable of screeching insanely loud to ward off enemies from their nests. Their meat is mineral rich from the fruits that they eat that are otherwise inedible to wolves.
Predators:
. Rasmizka- (male)
This foul beast is to be feared, and for good reason. It is about thirteen to fifteen feet in length and well over a ton. It resembles a giant Maggot, except it lacks hind limbs and the front are tiny. It is a rich brownish Grey, almost like vomit in coloration. It head it thick and lacks a neck, gaping jaws hold three rows of razor sharp teeth. It slides through the sand and hunts only under the full moon, a rare site much to our relief.
. Hakiem- (male)
The Hakiem is a large forbidding monster, about twelve to thirteen feet full grown. It is an over grown monitor lizard, and preys almost exclusively on canines. It it a rough flame color, with alternate patches of rainbow. It lives mostly in forest areas, and oddly has three sets of legs along with a bite full of nasty bacteria. It hunts alone, and eats only the heart leaving the rest of the body to rot.
. Drow- (Male)
Bigger, badder, worse than any bear you may have known, this grizzly monster is very aggressive and is very mean. Rarely seen walking on all fours, he prefers to tower over all else by means of displaying his colossal height whilst standing. A deep, thick classical brown fur coats his body, but he has several abnormalities that set him apart from other. Firstly, his teeth are strangely long and straight, pointed, and stick from his mouth like something from a horror movie. His large front paws hold massive claws capable of stabbing through feet of thick tree bark.
. Intai- (No gender)
Scales of a metallic crimson red run down the lengthy spine of this serpent's body like armor. Intai hunts normally during the winter, when other large game is scarce. It is the length of three school buses, and with a muscular body as such, it is capable of raising nearly half of his entirety from the ground to look down upon it's prey before striking. Looking nothing less in basic appearance than a massive anaconda, it does not have large fangs like most of our other predators. Instead, Intai relies on a mouthful of blunt, small teeth for crushing purposes rather than for tearing at meat or stabbing. Usually when Intai feeds, it swallows its meals whole while keeping good grip on the prey using it's teeth.
. Tyril- (Female)
A long windy body, scaled similar to that of a snake's, makes up most of this ghastly creature. It is has many centipede like legs to which she uses to move about efficiently. A desert dwelling creature, Tyril hunts during any time on wandering wolves. She has two blood red, human-like eyes atop her round head, but they are small, for she barely needs them. She is very in tune with the earth and can feel vibrations many miles away through her legs. She swiftly attacks wolves and grasps them with her two long pincers and pulls them into her mouth, which is a circular hole with many rows of teeth.
. Corvus- (male)
This is a harmless species of Bird, at least to us. It is pale and built like a Vulture, only it has feathers on its neck as well. It has three ruby red eyes and never sleeps, haunting the swamps and forest with its bone chilling cackle. It is believed to fore tell death, and to be avoided at all cost. He tends to prey on unsuspecting youth, as they are easy pickings.
. Toiboe- (Female)
A massive body that compares to that of an ostrich, and a wingspan of almost twelve feet per wing, this brightly colored phoenix patrols the heights of mountain skies. Their necks are slender and are medium in length, and they have long, narrow beaks that hook down from both sides on the top bill as though they have two sets of fangs; their beak curves only slightly. Heavily feathered, their legs are long like that of an egret's, but they are not as slender, and are more build for power like a hawk's. Her main plumage is a light smokey gray, however, about her back and wings, her feathers are striped jaggedly with bands of white to give her a more exotic look. Atop her head, her crest feathers stand tall at about a half-foot when she raises them, and rather than being banded in white, they are banded in deep red. Her long tail is tipped in the same deep red, and her underbelly and legs are a planed smokey gray base. She is very aggressive and does not like wolves nearing her lair in the mountains.
. Byrontior- (Male)
A very large beast, he averages to about the size of a rhino, but his tone, slender body makes it difficult to see that his size can be quite the threat. Coated with shiny, green scales, this dragon is infamous for his hording of shiny and valuable things. He is a greedy trickster, and loves to steal the belongings of others should he like them. He doesn't often feed on wolves, however, when angered, he is thrilled by the chase. His muscular legs are home to powerful gripping hands adorned with eight inch talons. His large, but fragile wings are easily worn down by his weight, however, in times of strong winds, he enjoys remaining in flight. Two long spiraling horns are worn on his skull and to compliment this fierce look, his gator-like fangs protrude out of his mouth through the top jaw in his gums.
. Roz- (Female)
Mostly residing in water based areas, Roz is though, capable of short distant flight. With the body, legs, and head of an egret, her feathers are very short and thick, much like that of a penguins, and are a teal blue. Beneath these feathers, though, her skin is thick and tough, like alligator skin, in fact her lizard like tail is scarcely coated in feather thus leaving her scaly flesh exposed. At the end of her tail a vertical fin sprouts, much like a sharks, and thus this leaves her more adept at swimming underneath water at high speed. Lining the inside of her long beak, tiny glass-like shards of teeth are used for cutting up and tearing apart flesh.
Neutral Animals:
. Skræling-
This smallish feline creature is most well known in frozen northern regions, where packs of well into dozens will co-operate in hunting and scavenging. The Northern Skræling stands at about two feet tall, and has short but thick fur in ghostly colours with a very long fluffy tail. A Skræling's eyes shine silvery in light, and their vocal calls, like chattering and laughter, can be heard on the wind on the coldest nights when the sound carries far.
Their fur can have many patterns, but these have little contrast, unlike some cats. Their jaws and teeth are more powerful and longer (respectively) than one would think at the sight of them, and they can use their claws to grip foes or prey. If pressed by threat of starvation, or provoked by prior attacks, they may engage lone wolves by ambush. A single Skræling or a small group will attack suddenly, aiming to scratch the eyes and blind its target. When one leaps away, another engages, and when the victim is blind the rest of the group descends upon their prey. Similar tactics are employed in regular hunts.
While this threat is fairly uncommon, Skrælingar have developed unpleasant reputations as demonic or otherwise supernatural beings which seek to do evil for its own sake. In reality, however, they simply prefer to be left alone. Wolves killed by Skrælingar are often trespassing unknowingly, as Skrælingar do not mark territory with scent. It is unlikely they can issue the sounds required to speak to a wolf, nor the other way around, so precisely how they make their decisions is relatively unknown.
A lesser known variety also lives in the south, roaming in (usually) smaller groups in hot terrain. These have thinner coats, darker colouring and larger ears. In other ways these Skrælingar will act much the same as their Northern counterparts.
. Common Rodent-
Includes variously sized and colored rodents of squirrel, rat, and mice varieties. Are seen throughout the site.
. Songbirds-
Birds of various small to medium sizes and colors. They are seen all throughout the site.
. Cobalt Hyrosaur-
As the name suggests, this ancient creature is most definitely a present day dinosaur. An alligator who's base structure is a bright, steely blue with black specks, it looks no different than the normal gators we know now. Ranging from six to twelve feet in size, they have well adapted, and strong, tails for swimming in river currents.
. Crimson Hyrosaur-
As opposed to their Cobalt counterparts, the Crimson Hyrosaurs like to group in marshes, swamps, and any tropical setting. Their skin color is a deep, but vivid, red with black specks. They are more built for strength, and thus, along with their broad muscular jaws comes many rows of razor sharp, hooked teeth.
. Sea Caimen-
A smaller species of alligator, the sea caimen is only about four to five feet long as an adult. Completely jet black, they prefer, obviously, salt water environments and feed on the many types of fish.
. Fire Wyrm-
Measuring anywhere from a few inches to many yards in length, this formidable creature is both deadly and captivating. The Wyrm does not really create fire, in fact it lives underwater and is often coloured in blue as well as the yellows, reds and oranges from which it takes its name. It does however provide a spectacular show of lights for reasons ranging from luring and dazzling prey, confusing or scaring predators, to attracting a mate.
Physically its body is rounded, with a flattened diamond-shaped tail that sits vertically (like a fish's) in relation to the creature. It is translucent except for certain internal organs and large blood vessels, with the animal becoming less opaque as it grows older and larger. It has two great eyes situated behind a mouth which can stretch open almost to 180 degrees to allow it to swallow huge prey – and its flexible body is quite capable of handling things much wider than itself.
The Wyrm is entirely aquatic, and while it can live in fresh water it rarely does, so although older adults might eat an animal the size of a wolf it would be a very rare thing for it to actually encounter one.
The most interesting thing about it is most certainly bioluminescence. Younger Wyrms, from a few inches to a few feet in length, often swarm in great numbers when reproducing (note that while they can live for dozens of years – perhaps even hundreds – and grow to great sizes, the Wyrm can reproduce after only a few months and most will not live more than a few years) and create spectacular displays likened to fire burning beneath the sea. Almost all of the animal can glow, and its reaction time is very fast, allowing it to seem almost as though it is covered in liquid flame itself.
Smaller Fire Wyrms are edible if you can catch one, and though their jaws are formidable to something small enough to be swallowed, they cannot bite hard enough to truly bother an animal large enough to eat them.
. Kaztkin Trout-
A harmless little trout, it feeds upon the swamp rats and gator babies. Its about three feet in length and a muddy red, however Wolves can not dine on it. It eats the hemlock that grows on the bank, and therefor becomes full of toxins and waste.
. Argonaut Fish-
This is a nasty species of fish, about 9-10 feet long and amazingly fast. Its lower jaws juts well past the upper, with long slender fangs. It is a mossy green with darker under tones, and is very aggressive. It hunts in pairs and thrives in fast flowing streams.
. Freshwater Fish-
Variously sized freshwater fish of many colors and patterns. Seen throughout the site.
. Saltwater Fish-
Variously sized saltwater fish of many colors and patterns. Seen throughout the site.
