The Underground Lake

Further along the dreary path of the damned, soft glimpses of light play tricks on the eyes, blotching the thick mist with speckles of illumination. The fog seeps up along the solitary hallway and clogs any untrained senses, stuck beneath the earth for eternity with no where else to go. It hides the lake that abruptly swallows the ground, the silver smoke curling over the ripples in the water. Cliffs hug the edges and spiral towards the ceiling, narrow and jagged with ancient stone. Be silent if you turn to the depths for a drink though. Collosal monster's live just beneath the lake's greedy surface, where crystals scatter themselves along the walls and dimly light up the cavern. And as the stories say, these macrabe creatures can crawl out of the water, and they're always eager to gobble up any who tresspass within their home.
