The Lake

Beholder of beauty and youth, beholds the stain of vanity.
Let she who strives for more than offered, receive less than what is deserved.
And she who is spited is she who is ugly, she who becomes ugly becomes enraged.
Come forth the mistress of deceit, to tempt the young for many years forth.
It is she who paints red the river, and screams to her gods words of forgiveness, with offerings of a black cult, and blood of youth, on the day of the red moon.

Nothing seems to be too peculiar about this lake at first glance. Having made their way through miles of frozen waste and tantalizing acreage of a jungle that could push you to the brink of insanity, none would care to think much about the strange salty smell that wafted in the breeze around the lake. At day the substrate of smooth, black pebbles is easily seen amongst the green grass that coats the hills of the valley surrounding the lake. Disregarding the smell and scenery of the lake itself, the most interesting decoration of Apto Eluo is the massive, ancient statue that sits strong against the beating waves along the lake's shoreline. It is apparent that the figure was carved elaborately by a skilled wielder of some type of earth element as the stone's most intimate detail has strangely been retained. Despite the beauty of the detail and craftsmanship of the artifact, it is quite daunting in its presentation of an angered she-wolf who stares yearningly to the sky. Holding the figure of a young temptress, the statue has aroused many myths and stories. Any lucky wanderers to venture here during the time of the lunar eclipse will find that the lake no longer holds the lack of color it once had, but instead, it is thick with the crimson of blood and the smell of death until morning, where the color mysteriously fades back to nothing.
