So I had some people notice today that I have different ways of addressing people based on my respect for them. Yeah, its true, and I didn't even realize it until it was pointed out. So .. some of these you wouldn't expect, but, this is the true meaning behind those petty nicknames.
Love: A general, common used name for everyone when I fail to remember to call them elsewise, or from force of habit. Most often, I call new members or guests "love" to indicate friendliness on my part and to make them feel welcome.
Lovet: Singling you out for my level of fondness towards you. I don't normally call people I just met "lovet", so this usually means you are a friend.
Darling: Close friend. I also use this term in its plural form, but only to call to several new faces at once, or to address a group of people I am greatly fond of.
Dear/Dearie/Dearest: My lover/boyfriend/girlfriend. No one will see me say any of these terms unless I am talking to a loved one that I am officially dating and if I am completely happy being that way.
M'love: I like you, a lot, most likely, and this could be seen as a friendly or crushing type of way, however I prefer to call friends that I like a lot "lovet" or "darling". M'love technically means "My love", which means that I want to have some type of possession over you (not bad), in other words you are a potential lover or someone who is just really close to me and has earned a lot of respect from me.
Hun: General, refers to any level of respect.
Your name here: General, and unless it is incorporated with some type of compliment, friendly statement, or happy emoticon, I either have little respect for you or am upset with you.
If I always call you by a shortened version of your name, but seem generally happy with you, it is a GOOD THING. I see you in great respect and feel equal with you, and don't find it necessary to label you based on respect.
Any swear word with or without your name: I probably don't like you at all. >>
That's all I can think of now, are there others I can't remember?
